A little update from our ladies in the Jungle to Jungle program at Kalama Science Club.
We have been communicating with them back and forth through video messages, emails and now through our students’ own blog. They are working on a project that will compare an Amazonian organism to a Hawaiian organism that occupies a similar niche, place on the food chain, or has similar physical characteristics. Their choices have truly impressed and surprised us:
Some examples:
- Black Caiman
- Yellowfin Tuna
- Blue Morpho Butterfly
- Kamehameha Butterfly
- Tapir
- Spotted Eagle Ray
Along with Mrs. Prevenas and Ms. Riddle, their dedicated teachers at Kalama, the girls are designing a mural inspired by these jungle comparisons. We have seen murals Ms. P and her students have created in the past, and they are stunning! We’ll be sure to post photos once the masterpiece is completed..
